It is a common knowledge among physicians that metronitazole ( in
conventional doses) which is quite
effective against anaerobic bacteria and some protozoa, is curative in
ameobilolitis, trichomaniasis, giadiasis and anaerobic infection of mouth
(ulcerative gingivitis and dental infection); also norfloxacin in ususal dose
is active against gram negative bacteria, and is used in GI infection and UTI.
The efficacy of these medicines in micro doses in the
treatment of similar diseases is a little known practice. Micro dose
preparation of these medicines were used on trial basis to observe clinical
effects in other gut- related problems
Microdose Preparation: 1G of metronidazole (in powder form) was mixed
with 100 ml of rectified spirit ; the mixture was shaken well , to get a uniform
suspension. The strength of the preparation was equivalent to 1X solution. One
ml of prepared suspension was again mixed with 100 ml of rectified spirit , and
was shaked again; in this way a suspension
of strength 2X was prepared .
Next the potentised forms of metronidazole ( i.e. 1X and 2X
suspensions) were soaked in sugar
globules and air dried.
Similar procedure were followed to prepare norfloxacin 1X
and 2X . Trial application of
metrodinazole and norfloxacin in micro doses (about 8 to10 globules
three times daily) were administered in
previously studied cases. Amlaki Q (10-15 drops) along with Terminelia Q
(5-10 drops) were administered twice daily simultaneously with above
medicines as supplementary therapy.
It has been observed that combination of metronidazole and
norfloxacin in micro doses (as detailed above) have been efficacious in the treatment of disorders in distal parts of gut, like pills, fissures
and fistula. There were no adverse side effects
related to such application.
The
action of the drug may be visualized as follows; Oral administering of the medicine in micro dose
allows the molecules to be absorbed through oral membrane, and trigger
pharmacological action, bypassing
metabolism in the liver.
Further , the
metronidazole 1X has been found to benefit patients with recurrent aphthous ulcers and hyper pigmentation
of malar (chick) region and forehead;
prolonged use of3-4 weeks of the medicine ( three time-a day), has
yielded encouraging results among the patients; In the case of
hyperpigmentation , simultaneous use of Atista-Radix Q (15-20drops twice daily)
has produced spectacular improvement.
