Thoughts on Hospitals

Need for improvement in state health service of the state is a long time demand of the people. The framework for providing reasonable level of treatment to the people calls for addressing the issue in a radical way.
While the State health service is burdened with huge volumes of patients, there is a proliferation of private hospitals, many of which although having high grade treatment facility, are  prohibitive in cost for majority of common people.
Of late there is a new initiative for establishing hospitals in PPP  model with superspeciality facilities at district and Sub Division levels. This thesis suffers from twin problems of fund crunch in state budget and scarcity of suitable measure of land for this purpose. In the face of such insurmountable problems in solving the decaying medical framework through PPP model, a fresh look at the available facilities of states would be an interesting starting point
It is a long cherished concept among the pioneers of physics that when convergence two different streams of thoughts/ systems take place a new line emerges with greater potentiality and chances of success.Synergetic assimilation of the two concepts of providing medical service to people, in which one (state hospitals) attempts to deliver service to one and all irrespective of financial consideration- the other reach people with facilities at a consideration- may be an alternative solution that is believed to merit serious and detailed attention of all concerned.
Linking of treatment facilities , man power including specialist doctors, nursing  personnel, technical and assistant group  staff of both the worlds could create an immense potential of medical treatment right from block/ sub divisional level to state level. The major embargo/impediment to such an initiative comes from private hospital authorities who prefer to charge patients arbitrarily for the treatment they offer A healthy and realistic interaction and exchange of facilities would create an ambiance of transparency  and scope for improving quality of treatment.Annexing of private hospitals with state level hospitals  through negotiation would provide a great leap to the health delivery system. Minor resistance from both quarters which is normally expected to arise, can be overcome to achieve greater social goal through enacting commensurate acts
Another effective step toward the goal will be through putting an administrative machinery whereby specialist doctors of different disciplines from district/ Sub Divisional hospitals would pay periodic visit  to rural health centers to cater to the  requirement of local patients. Initially, such exchange may be kept limited to between hospitals of two successive levels or so. The gross social benefit accrues from the fact that rural- urban movement of patients in search of specialized treatment can be minimised ; it would be an enormous economic gain for the rural population, as well.
The primary responsibility of keeping the surroundings of social institutions like school, hospital clean and hygienic should be vested with respective civic authorities . Cleanliness at hospitals premises  adequate supply of potable water and  proper waste disposal facilities have tremendous impact on the perception of patients about the overall quality of treatment. At present most of hospital authorities are unable to maintain upkeeping of vast campus of the institutions ; civic authorities which have the infrastructure for carrying the job can not absolve itself of the responsibility of cleaning  establishments of social importance , as part of their task of keeping areas under their jurisdiction clean.
The concept having  flower garden and introduction of musical entertainment at low decible  in the corridores and surroundings of wards at intervals would constitue additional  psychological boosting for the patients
